Help

As a Supervisory Security Specialist, MS-0080-1your typical work assignments may include the following:

  • Supervise staff of Personnel and Industrial Security Specialists and ensure suitability/fitness/national security determinations are rendered in accordance with established laws, regulations and standards governing personnel security operations.
  • Develops and executes personnel security program policies and procedures.
  • Develops, justifies, and controls the branch's budget.
  • Designs, plans, and carries out special projects and/or reviews to assist the Director on matters relating to the Branch's program and operational effectiveness, including establishing quality assurance and quality control measures.
  • Develops and executes security program policies and procedures to protect facilities, personnel, and classified and unclassified sensitive information.
  • Confers with, assists, and advises the Director and other staff members on security precedents, planning, and policy development. Develops and documents security policies, programs, standards, methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Develops training and briefings on personnel / industrial security.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade level, equivalent to the GS-12 in the federal service or comparable private sector experience.

Specialized experience is defined as 1) experience within the last 5 years managing a personnel security program that processes security clearances and adjudicates background investigations and re-investigations (2) developing and implementing personnel security policies and procedures (3) monitoring a Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program for compliance with federal regulations (4) supporting suitability determinations and the eligibility to access classified information.
